 MIDI128 2x64 keys matrix driver
|
This model of MIDI controller is for use in bigger setups. In most expanded version it covers 384 contacts in 6 5-octave keyboards.
It is main component of various configurations and by adding expanders can be sized according to user's needs. Typical
application is MIDI controller for Hauptwerk Virtual Pipe Organ consisting of 2
keyboards, pedalboard and panelboard, stuff like volume pots etc.
Features:
- single board translates 1 or 2 keyboards of 64 keys connected in 8x8 diode matrix into MIDI notes
- 2 inputs for optional keyboard/pedalboard expander adding up to 128 keys each
- 7 potentiometer inputs, each with user defined channel and type e.g. volume, modulation etc.
- velocity of all notes adjustable by means of potentiometer.
- unlimited transpoze up/down independent for each keyboard in semitone and octave steps.
- independent, user defined MIDI channel for each keyboard.
- part of the keys can be used for MIDI data other than notes, e.g. program change etc.
- +/- buttons for Program Change messages independent for each keyboard
- all settings stored in nonvolatile memory.
- cable with pannel mount standard metal-cased DIN5 MIDI socket, or GamePort cable.
- requires 5-12V DC power supply, about 1.5mA current consumption. No power supply needed when used with GamePort cable.
- dimensions: 69x45mm (2.7''x1.8'')

The board shown above has 2 16-pin IDC headers for 2 keyboards, 2 10-pin headers for potentiometers and additional functions dependent on chosen version. 3 smaller whiteish connectors are for MIDI out cable, and expanders (i.e. additional keyboards)
Price 50EUR.
If requested, part of the keyboard scanned by one of the expanders can be used as stops/pistons
panelboard. Part of such keyboard would send note-on/off messages recognized
usually as organ stops, and the other part - program change messages, usually used
as stops and combination tabs in organ emulators.
If the keyboard has diode matrix installed, AMTX64X cannot be used. OTOH, if
there are no diodes in the keyboard, AMTX64X provides easy connection with no extra
components, while MIDI128X needs additional matrix board
for each keyboard. Same applies for the pedalboard controller - MIDI4D and its
small diode matrix.
