AMTX64 in standalone version

AMTX64 stands for Active Matrix 64-keys. This is the scanner for 5-octave keyboard. It can be powered from 3 AA cells or external power source (3-5V). Keys must be arranged in typical 8x8 matrix, i.e. 8 keys in a row have one pole connected together, and the others go to their corresponding pin, so 9 wires from the board for each group of 8 keys. Keyboard is connected using four 20-pin IDCs. One connector covers 16 keys. See the pinout of the board and keys connection diagram. To use CC, solder potentiometer (10-50kohm, linear taper) to appropriate leads as shown. If no controller is needed short the input to GND to prevent any unwanted MIDI messages generated by floating controller input. But best way is to specify at order that no controllers are planned.

Features:

  • converts 64 contacts into 5-octave MIDI keyboard.
  • optional unlimited transpose up/down. Pressing both transpose buttons simultaneously resets transposition to default note.
  • optional MIDI channel change
  • optional CC. It can be pitchbend (with deadband in the middle, so no special pot is required), modulation, volume, or any other MIDI controller
  • works in battery mode (enters power down after some time to save battery) or external power mode (works all the time at full speed). Specify power supply type when ordering.
  • cable with pannel mount metal-cased DIN5 MIDI socket
  • when used with PC GamePort cable it requires no external power supply.
  • dimensions 100x34mm (3.9''x1.3'')

How to order

The board is not stocked anymore, and can be delivered on request for 80EUR including shipping worldwide. Expect additional 4-6 weeks delay for this item. Closest matching replacement would be MIDI128 with DMTX64.
When placing order, you choose:

  2. Transposition (reduces number of available keys by 2) and its step size in number of semitones. Default: 1 semitone.
  3. Continuous Controller. Default: pitchbend.
  4. MIDI channel of the controller. It can be either associated with keyboard's channel, or use any other fixed channel (not changed by channel change feature).

  6. Potentiometer for the controller can be installed for additional 5EUR.
